He said that the only difference between the TriPower and Pat other than the obvious paint is that they are made in two different factories.

Mar 17, 2015· I will sell the pat if I do not use it too much. It''s a hobby mill lathe. Not much more. But the Owner, JT in LV is a really nice guy. Helped me thru a hundred emails! Sells parts, and offers advice. My 2010 weighs in like 1100 lbs. It is heaver than the X45 and rongfu 25/30 clones. I checked those and the Pat has more mass.

The Shoptask Pat and a couple of Jets were the only ones which were built in an ISO 9001 certified factory. Jet had a couple of 12,000 plus price lathes that were ISO 9001 certified, but they are much larger and more expensive than I need. Grizzly didn''t have a metal lathe or mill that was ISO 9001 certified at any price.

So some general questions about the ShopMaster (and combo machines in general) is the ability to get accuracy out of them.

If buying separates think about whether or not you can live with a milldrill as opposed to a knee mill. The knee mill will let you achieve vertical travel by moving the quill or the knee up/down while keeping the workpiece centered under the spindle. On a milldrill you will only have 34" of vertical travel via the quill.
